Thulium: The chemical element with the atomic number 69. While the comical nature of this is pretty apparent, don’t let that fool you! Thulium is sure to be one of the biggest bands out of the UK before the year is up! Their debut album, “Sixty Nine”, was fan-funded through the popular platform Kickstarter and, while it’s not a heavy-hitting, balls to the wall type record, it definitely has the merit to claim it’s spot as an early front-runner for album of the year! Upon my first listen of this band, I was instantly intrigued because you don’t see a lot of rock bands out there these days who can keep things mellow through an entire album and still manage to keep your interest! That’s not to say that there aren’t some more up-tempo and “heavier” songs on the album, because there definitely are.
“For Real” is one of those tracks. It’s a really down-home solid rock track that will have you up and moving in no time. By the time you get to the solo, your air guitar will be fully charged and you’ll be playing along like never before! The musicianship these guys show is pretty incredible, not to mention the lyrical prowess shown in this album. If you’re looking for something that is just between being too heavy and too soft, you’ll want to check out “Sixty Nine”. Tracks like the aforementioned “For Real”, “Perfect Lifemare” and the opening track “Tomorrow Comes Today” will have you out of your seat. However, tracks like “From Cool to Cold”, “Your Majesty” and “Shapes of Things to Come” will touch the heart and have you belting out and possibly shedding tears.

As an orginial 69’r I’m excited to get a hard copy of Thulium’s 69 CD. Helping getting the album produced was exciting and getting early releases of of the singles was a great reward. Their music is awesome! I’ve promoted it to my UK friends as it was released on FB and twitter and posted the singles for my US friends on my FB and twitter to push them to YouTube as more where released. But living in the US I was missing out on the CD and the concerts but am happy now that you are shipping them across the pond as they say. And getting a signed copy by all the guy’s is awesome as it feels like family since you kept me up dated throughout the whole process. Once you cross the pond for your US tours I’ll be right there to greet you and see an awesome concert. Awaiting that day! Great work guys I love love love the album and can’t wait for my sign CD so I can play it everywhere!
Much love to all, Debbie xo
